Christian convert sentenced to 5 years behind bars

Firuzi, a Christian convert and prisoner of conscience in Rajaie Shahr Prison
of Karaj (west of Tehran) has been sentenced to five years in prison.
Firuzi was prosecuted on 8 March 2015 in Branch 28 of the
revolution court chaired by Judge Moghise. He met his lawyer for the first time
in court.
Firuzi is held in ward 10 of this prison along with a
number of other Christian converts.
He was
arrested on 25 August 2013 and placed in jail on numerous occasions. He was
also sentenced by the Robat Karim revolution court (near Tehran) to two years
jail time in exile in the city of Sarbaz (southeast Iran). However, despite the
fact that his sentence ended on 13 January 2015 he has still been kept in jail
until court hearings are held for the new charges raised against him.
