Conditions of Lake Urumieh
will become more critical this summer
According to the representative of the Geological
Organization in Iran’s West Azerbaijan Province, despite the good rainfall in
the Lake Urumieh region, the status of this lake will become worse than
forecasted.
“Based on studies elements such as regional
conditions in this area and the improper use of the water have had their effects
on Lake Urumieh drying up,” said Razie Lak.
“The use of more than 40% of
renewable water has been announced as dangerous in the world. While in Lake
Urumieh 70% of this water source is being used,” she added.
It is said that more 25% of
the drying Lake Urumieh has experience has been under the watch of Hassan
Rouhani’s government.
If Lake Urumieh dries up
completely, more than 10 billion cubic meters of salt will turn into storms and
