Iraqi prisoner transferred to solitary confinement while on hunger strike
On Monday,
April 13 an Iraqi prisoner by the name of Ms. Bisma Jabouri, on her sixth day
of hunger strike, was transferred to solitary confinement in Gharchak prison.
These cells lack even minimum humane needs and prisoners are placed under
harassment and physical/psychological torture.
This prison
launched a hunger strike on April 8 protesting lack of medical care, lack of
legal follow-ups and Middle Ages-like conditions imposed on Gharchak Varamin
Prison, saying she will continue the hunger strike until her demands are met.
In response prison authorities threatened to transfer to solitary confinement
and place her under very harsh conditions if she continues the hunger strike. (Human Rights & Democracy Activists in Iran- Apr 14, 2015)
