Hunger strike launched by political prisoners in jail west of Tehran

Following the transfer of three prisoners of conscience by the names of Priest Saeed Abedini, Khaled Heradani and Mostafa Eskandar, prisoners of Gohardasht Prison went on hunger strike protesting this measure and placing other prisoners under torture. A segment of the text released by the hunger striking prisoners reads:
“Following the sudden and illegal transfer of our cellmates, Mr. Heradani, Eskandari and especially Priest Saeed Abedini, who is only suffering the pains and hardships of imprisonment for his beliefs in Jesus Christ and Christianity, we as a group of their cellmates in Gohardasht Prison of Karaj (west of Tehran) go on hunger strike starting Wednesday, April 8, to maybe, just maybe, be the voice of their innocence to the outside world in this harsh atmosphere of crackdown.
