Security agents conduct raid in southern Iran, make many arrests

Security agents on Wednesday, April 8 raided the Hamidiya, Malashiye and Kuy Enghelab districts of Ahvaz and arresting around 40 youths from these areas. In addition to this an Iranian Arab poet by the name of Ahmad Haj Sobhan was arrested on that very day in the city’s Kut Abdullah district and transferred to an unknown location.

Last month the people and youths of Ahvaz turned the funeral of a young street vendor, and a football match in Ahvaz, into rallies to protest the pressures and crackdown imposed on them by the regime. The late street vendor, Younes Assakere, had set himself ablaze protesting harsh measures by state security agents. (NCRI – Apr 10, 2015)
