Iran: Demonstrations and clashes continue in the Kurdish towns
Despite repressive measures by the Iranian regime and undeclared
curfew in the city of Mahabad, demonstrations and new clashed occurred
between youth and the security forces on May 9 in different parts of the
Kurdish towns. The uprising began after the death of a 26-years old
Kurdish woman, Farinaz Khosravani, who jumped off the fourth floor of a
hotel on May 4 to protect herself against abuse by an intelligence
agent.
According to reports, on Monday May 11 a number of Kurdish cities witnessed popular protests in support of the uprising in Mahabad. In Sanandaj, Baneh, and Sardasht, the protests turned into clashes with suppressive forces.
