Tehran police commander insists on crackdown against women
Hossein
Sajedi-nia, commander of Greater Tehran police, provided explanations on how to
impose the law on people he described as “hijab violators”.
“This
year we are continuing with full force the moral security plan that we began a
few years ago, and there has been no decrease in its intensity,” he said.
“In
various parts of the city, including major roads we have been witnessing people
violating hijab regulations. As we stationed patrols in those areas these cases
saw a significant drop in numbers,” he claimed.
“We
have tried to mostly issue warnings in this regard, yet we have witnessed that
some people actually insist on continuing their crimes. We carry out our police
duties based on legal standards and therefore, we impose the same punishment
meant for driving violations. In this regard the vehicles are transferred to
various parking lots,” he said. (State-run IRIB reported – September 18, 2015)
